Cin Series is an ongoing set of projects that have evolved out of watching too many movies. Basically a still from an intriguing scene is captured and painted over digitally. There are plans to in the near future print out these stills on canvas. The Verdict, staring Paul Newman, was released in 1982 and nominated for 5 academy awards. In this particular scene character Frank Galvin, a washed up alcoholic layer, is trying to convince a woman, more importantly himself, he has what it takes to win is first case in 5 years. The reason why this still was selected was impart to Paul Newman’s expression of clarity. It’s as if he all ready knows "The Verdict" of his court case. He believes in it which for one brief moment is a revelation for the character.

In preparation for their first triple AAA title launch, Airtight Games contracted Kaarbo Design to conceptualize a studio logo reveal. The board sequences reflect a submersion animation that results in a divers mask opening up to reveal the Airtight Games logo. These boards were a collaboration between Kaarbo Design, Craig Stouffer, and Airtight Games. Boards only underwent first round design.

Shadowrun, an FPS adaptation of the original role playing game, underwent numerous design and marketing directions. Here is one of many different identity logos. The design objective was to create a sense of post apocalyptic tribal heritage. The logo needed to have a mark that conveyed division and balance. All in all I think the logo has strong design elements and final renderings. It does read a bit concentrated with so much emphasis on the center. Toning down the impact the mark makes on the text would help free up the text.

Kaarbo Design worked with Turn 10 Studios to help launch its first racing title Forza in 2005. What started out as a simple project, to create user interface graphics, soon turned into much more. Kaarbo Design created nearly 90% of the livery graphics for the customization screens, all the tuning diagrams, and revised numerous shell screens including the start menu. To create the “Start Screen” Kaarbo Design completed 3 completely different versions. The chosen version was to be approved provided a suitable background image could be used for the logo reflection. Kaarbo Design built a Photoshop file with actions so that any background image could be placed into the comp with common effects applied. Turn 10 tried nearly twenty plus combinations finally approving the carbon fiber background. All the "Tuning Diagrams" were tediously hand drawn in illustrator by using a collection of different photographs. The style was to remain simplified but still feel technical.
